With over 200 people in attendance, One Book, One Community committee celebrated this year’s book “Kingfish: The Reign of Huey P. Long” with a country fair themed Kick-Off party. The Kick-Off party was meant to draw interest towards this year’s book and to bring the community together for discussion.

One Book One Community

For the past nine years, East Baton Rouge Parish Library has organized the One Book One Community project, which invites area residents to read the same book and take part in a series of free, public events discussing, exploring, and celebrating the book.  With partners/sponsors Forum 35 and Up Alliance, EBRPL presents a series of events relating to the chosen novel throughout the spring in order to give participants as many opportunities as possible to engage with the book.

Forum 35’s involvement with One Book One Community aligns wholly with our mission at Forum 35, to help improve Baton Rouge. It also supports our 3 core pillars; Arts and Culture, Leadership, and Cultural Diversity.
